Saburu- Its Four Wheel Drive SUV Legacy

                       As a matter of history, the very first Sabaru automotive motor product with a four wheel drive was based on the company’s 1300 G commercial station wagon , requested in 1971 by the Tohuku Electric Power Co. for winter maintenance work.  Only 20 units themeselves of these wonderful , versatile 4 wheel drive  were made , however all in all , they worked out so well , in the field and as well in tems of usuabiltiy and durability that “civilian” consumer models were on the assembly line of this fine automobile manufacturer by the very next year. Saburu  has since become a leading producer and forerunner of 4 wheel drive automotive products.

                           It is a peculiar happenstance , but all that invented the go anywhere do anything four wheel drive vehicle was caught out of the loop of the Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) craze.  After all it was reasoned by company execs that “who would ever want to buy a truck when you could have a car “, when after all a car was a much more luxiourous vehicle overall.    However it all came to pass , that by 1996, Saburu returned to it’s roots, emphasizing once gain four wheel all wheel drive and came back onto the automotive market with a vengance with its 4 wheel drive SUV product – the “Legacy Outback”  vehicle line.
